Yarmouth double as yard maintains fast restart

By John Scanlon

After landing an across the card treble on June 2, Johnston Racing followed up in style at Yarmouth on June 3 with an impressive double.
First, the beautifully bred Maydanny turned in a scintillating display to stretch away from his field in the mile handicap. Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum’s Dubawi gelding, a lightly raced four-year-old, set a new course record in defeating Arigato by three and three-quarter lengths in the hands of Dane O’Neill.
Then debutante Mountain Dreams scored cosily in a median auction maiden fillies’ stakes over the same distance. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed’s three-year-old Temple City filly showed good speed throughout for Franny Norton, before striking the front in the final half furlong to score by three-quarters of a length from Pretty Pickle.
Five winners in two days represents a yard in cracking form!
