Threading excels in Lowther Stakes

By John Scanlon
Exciting filly Threading stepped up on her impressive maiden win at Goodwood to land the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York on August 24.
Tracking the early leader Happy As A Fool, Threading travelled beautifully for James Doyle and pulled away in the closing stages to score by a length and three-quarters from Madeline, with Mamba Noire three-quarters of a length back in third.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Moahmmed’s Exceed and Excel filly fully justified her connections’ decision to supplement her for the race at a cost of £15,000 and earned quotes as low as 12/1 for next year’s 1,000 Guineas with her impressive performance.
