The Gatekeeper stands strong on Champions Day… while Ask Peter flies home at Catterick!

The Gatekeeper produced a fantastic front-running display under jockey Joe Fanning to land the valuable Balmoral Handicap on British Champions Day at Ascot on October 21.

Middleham Park Racing’s four-year-old Excelebration gelding loved the prevailing soft conditions at the Berkshire track and earned his owners in excess of £100,000 in prize-money with this, his fifth career success.

Meanwhile, at Catterick, the four-year-old Jukebox Jury filly, Ask Peter, completed a 189/1 across-the-card double for the yard when landing an apprentice handicap under Archie Young.

The filly was always at the head of affairs and pulled away in the closing stages to score by a remarkable 22 lengths!
