Baghdad takes Duke of Edinburgh Stakes
Baghdad, owned by Mohammed Bin Hamad Khalifa Al Attiya and partnered by Ryan Moore, won the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh stakes at Royal Ascot.
Baghdad travelled midfield for the first nine furlongs of the 12-furlong handicap. Three from home, Ryan got the son of Frankel into work and took the lead heading into the final furlong. In the final yards, Baghdad kept finding to deny Ben Vrackie, who came with a late run under Frankie Dettori, the win.
At Ayr, Asian Angel scored under apprentice Andrew Breslin in the 10-furlong handicap. Asian Angel, by Dark Angel, won by an impressive five lengths for owner Dr Jim Walker.
